Mobile Secretary of State service comes to campus Sept. 17
The Secretary of State mobile office will visit HFC to provide additional convenience to local residents as part of its 2025 fall college tour. The mobile office will be on our main campus on Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the John McDonald Student and Culinary Arts Center (Building M on the main campus).
The mobile office is open to HFC students, employees, and community members who want to:
- Update or renew a driver’s license or state ID.
- Upgrade their driver’s license to a REAL ID.
- Apply for or renew a disability placard.
- Conduct other transactions typically provided at branch Secretary of State offices.
"Michigan college students have a lot to keep track of at the start of a busy school year,” said Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. “This fall, we’re making things a little easier by bringing the Secretary of State office directly to more than 20 colleges and universities around the state. Our mobile office will meet people where they are and provide fast, convenient service right on campus.”
Removing barriers, increasing service opportunities
“I am really excited about the opportunity to bring the Secretary of State mobile office to HFC,” said HFC Executive Director Tracye Y. Davis. “As a member of the MiLEAP Michigan College Student Basic Needs Task Force, we determined 12 Actionable Initiatives to assist with removing barriers for our students. One key Priority Recommendation is to enhance access to existing resources. This partnership between my office, HFC Student Activities, and the Michigan Secretary of State allows our entire College community—including students, faculty, staff, and community members—to conduct business with the Secretary of State right here at the College. I also understand how this is a sensitive time for members of our community, and some of the trust regarding governmental entities might have been compromised. We want to assure our students and community that they are in a safe place. Being able to provide this service on-site at the College to remove the transportation, location, and office hours barriers is a huge win for our community.”
