The Hawks’ Nest, a food pantry providing supplemental food assistance to HFC students, will expand its access to four times per month until the end of the Fall 2025 semester.

“Even before federal benefits programs like Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program became affected by the recent government shutdown, there has been an increased need for the Hawks’ Nest. We’ve been able to widen our guidelines until the end of this semester from two times per month to four times per month, thanks to the generosity of our donors and the Food Drive Competition,” said HFC Student Activities Associate and Hawks’ Nest Manager Kayla Collins.

“When we return from the holiday break for the Winter 2026 semester, we will go back to our normal practice of twice per month, and we'll re-evaluate based on capacity,” said Collins.

Open to any enrolled HFC student

The Hawks’ Nest is open to any student enrolled in at least 1 credit hour at HFC. If you are a first-time visitor, please bring with you:

  • Your HFC student ID card
  • A copy of your current course schedule

Once you show a copy of your course schedule and complete an intake form, you will be registered for the semester and will be able to get grocery and personal care items. You do not have to prove need. Just come.

“We encourage anyone who needs breakfast items, meals, snacks, or personal items to fully use this free resource specifically designed to help them. The intake process is quite easy. There are no barriers to entry. It’s just for any current HFC student who needs it,” said Collins.

Food and personal care donations

Here is a list of what the Hawks’ Nest needs and how to donate. With the winter months approaching, Collins said the Hawks’ Nest is also accepting donations of new hats, gloves, and scarves for students as well.

Monetary donations

Monetary donations are always accepted. You have the option to donate online through the HFC Foundation. Be sure to select the Hawks’ Nest when donating.

“We are grateful to all of our donors who either provide food items and donate money to keep the Hawks’ Nest going strong,” said Collins. “Once a month, we make a shopping trip to get the items we need to keep the pantry stocked.”
