- Environmental Wellness: The state of well-being and harmony between you and your physical environment.
- Emotional/Mental Wellness: Developing healthy ways to manage stress and regulate emotions.
- Intellectual Wellness: Actively engaging and stimulating your mind to maintain and improve cognitive abilities, critical thinking skills, and curiosity.
- Career Wellness: Doing meaningful work that fits with who you are and creating a balance among different life roles and priorities.
- Spiritual Wellness: A sense of connection to the values, principles, and beliefs that give meaning to life, which can involve practices like meditation, prayer, or spending time in nature.
Why participate?
You’ll learn how to create a balanced, healthier work life that boosts both happiness and productivity. The course offers strategies for improving personal wellness, which is essential for maintaining both physical and mental health. By applying the tips in each wellness category, you can create a work environment that enhances your happiness, supports your productivity, and promotes work-life balance.
Examples of staying healthy at work:
- Foster Social Connections: Greet a colleague or ask about their weekend to start your day. Take 5-minute breaks throughout the day to chat or share a laugh. Strong workplace relationships can reduce stress and improve job satisfaction.
- Incorporate Movement: Opt for the stairs instead of the elevator or walk around during phone calls. Healthy snacks like fruit or nuts can boost energy and focus, while staying hydrated supports overall well-being.
- Personalize Your Workspace: Add items like photos, plants, or motivational quotes to inspire you. An organized desk can reduce stress and enhance focus.
- Practice Emotional Wellness: Keep a gratitude journal and write down three things you're thankful for each day. Short mindfulness or deep breathing breaks can help reduce stress and improve mental clarity.
- Stimulate Your Mind: Dedicate 15-30 minutes daily to reading articles or books related to your field or personal interests. Engaging in learning outside of work can spark creativity and reduce stress.
- Reflect on Career Goals: Set aside time each week to work toward your goals, like learning a new skill or enhancing your job performance. Finding purpose in your work leads to greater job satisfaction.
- Cultivate Spiritual Wellness: Take a few minutes during your lunch break to step outside, breathe deeply, or meditate. Staying grounded in your values enhances happiness and reduces stress.
