HFC will host a seminar called “Know the Signs: Education, Awareness, and Action” in the Rosenau Rooms on the first floor of the Andrew A. Mazzara Administrative Services & Conference Center (Building L on the main campus) Tuesday, April 8, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. as part of the 2025 National Crimes Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW), which is April 6-12.

The HFC Title IX Office and the Detroit Crime Victim Action Team (DCVAT) are sponsoring this seminar. The 2025 NVCRW theme is “ConnectingHealing.” This year’s theme of KINSHIP is a call to action to recognize that shared humanity should be at the center of supporting all survivors and victims of crime. KINSHIP is a state of being with survivors that drives vital connections and increases access to services, rights, and healing. KINSHIP is where victim advocacy begins.

DCVAT will have representatives at this event from:

Promote the needs of survivors

Established in 1981, NCVRW is an annual observance that unites crime survivors, victim assistance advocates, criminal justice professionals, and communities across America to pay tribute to crime victims; learn from the power of their personal stories; and celebrate accomplishments that strengthen laws and created policies, programs, and partnerships that put the needs of victims first. The goal of NCVRW is to annually publicize and promote the needs, issues, and concerns of crime victims and survivors; the many services available to support them; and the challenges that remain to promote individual and community safety across our nation.

Ways to get help

“Please join us for an important conversation about the real and rising threats impacting students and young adults – from dating violence to human trafficking, sextortion, and fraud schemes,” said HFC Title IX Coordinator Munira Kassim.

This seminar is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
