As part of its Fall 2025 Financial Literacy Series, HFC Student Activities will host an Avoiding Identity Theft and Fraud seminar on Thursday, November 20, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. via Zoom.

Scammers’ techniques are getting more sophisticated, especially with the growth of artificial intelligence. But you can stay one step ahead of them. This seminar is designed to equip you with tools, insider tips, and an action plan that you can start using today.

Nicole Bernacik, a financial specialist with the University of Michigan Credit Union, will host this seminar. You will learn:

  • How identity theft happens and what to look for.
  • Common financial scams and red flags.
  • Strategies to protect your credit.
  • What to do if your information is compromised in a data breach.

HFC Student Activities is sponsoring this seminar in partnership with UMCU. This seminar is free and open to the public.
