Reminder to all HFC employees working this summer:

There will be at least one, and possibly up to three, summer Fridays when employees will not be able to come to the majority of our main campus due to planned electrical shutdowns. The shutdown date(s) will enable our IEMP contractor, JCI, to install metering devices, and will allow Facilities Services to perform preventative maintenance on critical electrical infrastructure.

The first electrical shutdown will be Friday, May 20, from 6:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m.

On May 20:

  1. Power will NOT be available to Buildings A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, and N.
  2. Power WILL be available as normal at the Welcome Center.
  3. Power WILL be available as normal on East Campus.
  4. College servers will remain online so that employees working at the Welcome Center, East Campus, or remotely on May 20 will have remote access to the services you need. While remote workers will not be able to use “remote desktop” to access your individual desktop computer in the 14 buildings without power, you will be able to access all other remote-access College systems such as VPN and Teams.

Any additional electrical shutdown date(s) will be based on the outcomes of JCI’s work on May 20. We will announce any additional dates as soon as they are scheduled.

Because these electrical shutdowns are being announced in advance, supervisors will coordinate with their teams to determine work hours and locations on these dates.

Thank you. HFC Communications
