HFC welcomes Campus Safety Associate Rick Wyka

Headshot of Rick Wyka.

Lifelong Dearborn resident Rick Wyka has returned to his alma mater, HFC.

Wyka was recently hired as a Campus Safety Associate at the College. He reports to HFC Assistant Manager of Campus Safety Luke Cosenza.

“Luke is a great supervisor. He understands the needs of the College and employees,” said Wyka, who has five children and one grandson.

After graduating from Edsel Ford High School, Wyka enrolled at Grand Valley State University in Allendale. He also took criminal justice classes at HFC (then Henry Ford Community College). Wyka is a graduate of the Fire Academy at Schoolcraft College in Livonia and the Police Academy at the Wayne County Sheriff Department in Detroit.

Wyka was a Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy for 12 years. Due to an injury in the line of duty, he took a medical retirement. Eventually, he returned to HFC – only this time as an employee.

“Rick comes to the Campus Safety team after a long career in law enforcement and has proven to be a valued member of our team,” said Cosenza. “Rick is a lifelong Dearborn resident and a product of the Dearborn Public Schools. Having strong ties to the community and the public schools, through coaching, he understands the uniqueness of Dearborn and the HFC community.”
