New Admissions website allows students to choose their path

On Thursday, October 1, 2020, HFC launched its new Admissions website, the result of an 18-month effort by team members across the College to create a more responsive, customized experience for students enrolling at HFC.

The new website replaces the former "7 Steps" model, which was a previous effort to centralize and simplify the steps to enrollment. In practice, though, most students could not follow the 7 Steps, because the steps were not customized to their specific circumstances.

HFC is proud to enroll a broad variety of students, and they have different admissions requirements.

The new Admissions website is titled "Get started at HFC," and it allows students to do exactly that by selecting the type of admission they are seeking, and then following customized steps that apply directly to their situation.

The audience types allowing students to self-identify include:

  • First time in college (freshman)
  • Transfer to HFC
  • High School and College Together (Dual Enrollment)
  • International Students
  • Employer-Sponsored Students
  • Guest Students
  • Non-degree students

There is also a separate section for Nursing and Health Careers, because these programs have additional admissions requirements.

Dozens of people from Enrollment, Student Affairs, Finance, and Academic Affairs areas worked as a team to inform this process and to assist the Web Team and Marketing in presenting the information and student experience in an engaging way.

The new site also includes referrals to advisors, navigators, counselors, and various enrollment-related offices that can help students with a smooth enrollment path.
