EOS North America donates $25,000 for STEM scholarships
EOS North America, Inc. – a subsidiary of EOS, the world’s leading technology supplier in the field of industrial 3D printing of metals and polymers – will donate $25,000 to the HFC School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
The gift will be used to distribute immediate scholarship awards for students’ needs, and to establish an endowment for scholarship awards in subsequent years.
EOS promotes diversity in STEM
EOS is committed to encouraging and supporting individuals in their educational pursuits through the EOS-HFC STEM partnership, which promotes diversity within STEM fields. EOS has focused its attention on significant barriers to completion in higher education for students attending HFC, especially underserved populations including black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) students enrolled in the School of STEM. The funding seeks to provide financial support and eliminate obstacles to degree completion, and to serve as a significant asset for students who may need assistance financially and academically.
“I am incredibly humbled and honored to be a part of this initiative. Earlier in my career, I taught business law at a community college, and I understand the many challenges community college students often face. I also know how capable and motivated they are. With this partnership, hopefully, we can help eliminate some of the financial barriers STEM students face, so they can better focus on their studies and successfully graduate,” said Tyler Leitow, EOS Contracts Specialist.
EOS recognizes that discrimination and inequality continue to be problems in America. EOS is a private company in the business of advanced additive manufacturing, and its leadership team has been carefully considering societal events and their often disproportionate impacts on minority populations. EOS has made the decision to help through education -- to be a part of the solution.
A long-term gift that represents an investment
More scholarship details will be released soon. While some of the funds will be expended for immediate needs, the endowment will help students succeed indefinitely. This is an investment in the future of STEM students.
