Sen. Sylvia Santana will be one of the judges at the Bake-Off Contest to be held at HFC on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the pavilion of the Student & Culinary Arts Center (Bldg. M).

The price of each entry for the Bake-Off is $20. Half of the proceeds from the Bake-Off – which is part of the Craft and Vendor Show – will be donated to the Detroit-based non-profit In Memory of Community Garden. The Garden’s mission is to foster the development of the community, while bringing a wide variety of diverse backgrounds together. It will provide children and families a place to learn about nutrition and the benefits that fruits, vegetables, and exercise provide. Community gardening is a healthy, inexpensive activity for youth and adults that can bring them closer to nature and allow them to interact with each other in a socially meaningful and productive way.

The other half of the proceeds will be awarded to the first-place winner. Items donated from various local businesses will be given to the second-place and third-place winners.

If you would like to participate in the Bake-Off Contest or if you have questions, contact Jackie at jmeventscraftandvendorshows@gmail.com.
