NetTutor completed more than 200 sessions in its first semester

NetTutor – the online tutoring service for HFC students launched in the fall of 2018 – had a successful first semester. More than 65 HFC students used NetTutor and completed more than 200 sessions, according to Chardin Claybourne, HFC Learning Lab and Tutoring Services.

“The goal of NetTutor is to provide online tutoring for all students, especially distance learners. NetTutor is there at their convenience. There is no limit on its availability for students to use this service. In fact, one student used NetTutor 34 times alone last semester,” said Claybourne.

Tutors are available for 95 percent of the subjects taught at HFC, including English, computer science, biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, mathematics, et al. The tutors are required to have an undergraduate degree and undergo training at NetTutor.

“This is not a side gig for them; this is a full-time job, and they take it seriously,” said Claybourne. “Tutors are available 24/7 in some cases for classes such as math.”

Every month in its first semester at HFC, NetTutor usage has gone up. Claybourne’s goal is to see more students taking advantage of this service.

“We want to show the leadership at HFC that NetTutor is something that’s worth investing in,” said Claybourne.
