Iit is now easier than ever for HFC students to transfer to Oakland University after earning their associate degrees at Henry Ford College. On Oct. 8, representatives from HFC and Oakland University in Rochester Hills signed a business administration transfer (articulation) agreement, which followed the recent signing of agreements for nursing and the applied health sciences programs.

The new agreements provide a seamless pathway for qualified students from HFC to transfer to OU to earn the following degrees:
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Bachelor of Science in Applied Heath Sciences
• Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

How students benefit from these agreements

The new agreements increase the number of transferrable credits students can earn at HFC and apply toward their OU degree. This represents a significant cost savings to students, who receive high-quality education at HFC before transferring to earn a bachelor's degree. The agreements also define course equivalencies, ensuring a seamless transition of students between the two educational institutions.

For students pursuing nursing, the number of transferable credits from HFC increases from 63 to 93 credits. The additional 30 credits will be earned after successfully passing the National Council Licensure Examination. The pass rate of the NCLEX-RN at HFC from January through June of this year was 93 percent. Once OU verifies successful completion of the NCLEX-RN, and you complete your 93 credit hours at HFC, you will only have 32 credits to left to complete your bachelor’s in nursing at OU.

For students pursuing applied health sciences, the number of transferable credits from HFC increases from 62 to 84 credits, meaning you will only have to complete 40 credits at OU. Again, this is a significant cost savings for you in completing more credit hours at HFC.

For students pursuing business administration, the number of transferable credits from HFC increases from 62 to 79 credits. As a result, you will only have between 45 to 54 credits left to complete at OU, depending on your major.

OU also offers a Transfer Admission Guarantee to HFC students.

HFC and OU are also partners in other ways, including participating in defined debt forgiveness programs for returning students.

“This is a proud moment for HFC to form this partnership with Oakland University,” said Dr. Cristina Bailey, HFC director of Academic Services. “It is also wonderful for our students. These transfer agreements will help students save money as they earn their associate degrees at HFC and ensure a smooth transition when they transfer to OU to pursue their bachelor’s degrees.”
