DIA’s “Diego Rivera and the Detroit Industry Murals” at HFC Oct. 1
In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month and National Work and Family Month, the HFC Council of World Cultures presents Diego Rivera and The Detroit Industry Murals, a Detroit Institute of Arts presentation on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 11:10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Rosenau Rooms on the first floor of the ASCC (Bldg. L).
Detroit Institution of Arts docent Dr. Song Chae (of the DIA's "Behind the Seen" program) will host the presentation. Chae, of Dearborn, is a retired pathologist who taught in the Wayne State University School of Medicine. She has been a DIA docent for six years.
The DIA is ranked as one of the leading galleries in the country with more than 65,000 objects in its collection. Among Rivera’s most recognized murals, these were completed in 1932-33. The frescoes were a gift to the DIA from Edsel B. Ford.
