HFC Board Treasurer selected to join Harvard's Young American Leadership Program

Fadwa Hammoud, treasurer of the HFC Board of Trustees, has been chosen to join the 2018 Young American Leaders Program at the Harvard Business School, which will be held on the campus of Harvard University in Cambridge, MA this June.

A total of 130 leaders from 13 cities across the nation have been chosen to join. Hammoud is one of 10 in Michigan who has been chosen for YALP, which is based on Harvard’s Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness. It was created to develop leaders who understand cross-sector collaborations for shared prosperity that can put their cities on a path toward shared prosperity and who are able to implement them effectively.

The program offers opportunities for city teams to apply the ideas to their hometowns. In Hammoud’s case, the town is Dearborn, which has the largest Middle Eastern population in the United States. YALP seeks a team that represents the rich diversity of a community and works with a sponsoring organization and senior leaders in each city to identify participants who are energetic, creative, positive, and collaborative with a track record of civic engagement.

“I am honored to have been selected by Harvard to participate in this program,” said Hammoud. “I hope to grow as a leader and bring back many ideas and strategies that would help move our state and diverse communities forward.”
