HFC's Music Dept. will present the Spring Symphony Band Concert on Wednesday, April 26, at 8 p.m. This concert takes place at the Michael A. Guido Theater in the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, located at 15801 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn.

The following HFC music groups will perform at this year's Spring Symphony Band Concert:

  • Metropolitan Symphony Band: The largest community college concert band in Michigan, the Metropolitan Symphony Band includes HFC music students, advanced placement high school students, students from neighboring universities and members of the community. This year’s band consists of 75 members.
  • United States Air Force (USAF) Freedom Winds: Composed of six virtuoso Airman Musicians, the group adds percussion to the traditional woodwind quintet instrumentation to enhance standard musical literature and increase their musical capabilities. Their diverse repertoire also includes jazz and ragtime classics along with popular themes from Broadway’s hit shows and Hollywood’s greatest films.

HFC is home to the largest music program of all two-year colleges in Michigan. The musicians in HFC ensembles represent a cross-section of HFC’s student body. Music ensembles from HFC have regularly toured and performed at special events across the country and in Europe, as well as the Presidential Inaugurations of George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Admission is free. However, interested parties may pick up complimentary tickets at the Ford Center box office. Box office hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For further information, go to www.dearborntheater.com or call 313-943-2354.
