Henry Ford College Strategic Plan Initiative

Student Financial Supports

For students pursuing their college goals, attending classes and keeping up their grades is only half of the journey. Many students are balancing school with work, family, and financial obligations. When an unexpected financial setback occurs, such as a medical expense or car repair, students may face the difficult decision to stay in school or pay the bills. We want to ensure that students can stay in school by providing the funds they need when they need them through a variety of coordinated financial support options, including Financial Aid, scholarships, and completion grants.

Initiative Progress

  • Evaluate Federal Financial Aid process and areas for improvement (such as Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) processing and Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) alerting).
  • Evaluate the student scholarship process and establish a goal of a percentage of total funds awarded.
  • Establish a College-wide emergency grant office/process. (In progress)
  • Use financial aid analytics across student-support offices to track early signs of students at-risk and to deliver wellness supports, including completion grants. (In progress)
