Henry Ford College Strategic Plan Initiative

Admissions Processes

For some students, the admissions process can be difficult, intimidating, or overwhelming. We will work to make sure the application process works for students of all backgrounds, ethnicities, and cultures, and that it requires as few steps as possible. We will not collect information that we do not need. We will automate any steps that can reasonably be automated. Team staff will undertake tasks that can be completed without student involvement.

Initiative Progress

  • Complete an analysis of the Admissions process for all student populations, recognizing a one-size process does not fit all.
  • Consider requesting former school transcripts for the students, removing the burden from the students and allowing for a greater application-to-admit rate. (In progress)
  • Implement the use of conditional admission for transfer students (not just high school students). (In progress)
  • Design and implement a comprehensive communications campaign in which applicants and admitted students hear personally from faculty, and advisors in their programs. (In progress)
