Whether you need to broaden your marketing by sponsoring an event or hire new employees for your expanding business, you have come to the right place. The resources we provide will benefit your business as well as the HFC Community.

Why Recruit with HFC?

  • Centrally located in Dearborn, Michigan, part of the greater Detroit Metro area, HFC attracts students from the tri-county area of Wayne, Macomb, and Oakland counties.
  • Our graduates are highly sought after due to the outstanding education we provide in more than 100 programs of study.
  • In addition to traditional students, we have many students returning for a second career or seeking further certification to improve their careers.
  • We have more than 12,000 current students, and many more thousands of alumni.
  • Using Handshake, you can explore many opportunities to connect with our students.

On-Campus Recruitment

Career Services offers you the chance to recruit students on campus for a 2-4 hour block. We will provide a table and chairs; you provide literature and applications. Face-to-face interaction maximizes the chance that you will meet candidates who can be a good fit for your organization, something you can't often pick up from an application.

How to Post Jobs and Hire Students or Alumni

Posting a position

Employers can post full-time, part-time, summer/seasonal, paid internships or cooperative education (co-op) positions on HFC Handshake. If you are creating a new position and are uncertain about the type of position, please review the chart below.

Posting an internship position

If your internship is a paid position, and you have already completed the job description, simply sign in to Handshake.

From there, navigate to the "Jobs" tab, and post as you would a normal position. Please be sure to include the end date or duration of the internship in your posting.

Additional internship help

If you are unsure whether an internship is the type of position you are looking to fill, refer to our chart. The chart describes the differences between direct hire, internships, and co-op positions. If you still have questions, contact Career Services. Or, visit the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) website. There you'll find internship guidelines that will help you determine compensation, supervision, scope of the position, and other helpful details.

If you have never created an internship program, view the Internship Toolkit compiled by the Michigan Career Educators and Employers Association (MCEEA). This resource contains valuable information for setting up your program.

Employer Feedback

Claire Lizear - Co-op Services Credit Union

Recruiting at Henry Ford College was a fast, fun way to get great candidates for our open employment opportunities. The Career Services staff was friendly, accommodating, and ensured that we received qualified candidates with the skill set that we needed.

Douglas Gardner - Human Resources Manager, Concessions, Fine Dining and Retail at Comerica Park

We had a fantastic student turnout for our afternoon recruiting event at HFC for summer positions at Comerica Park. We even requested to come back a month later and do it again. Overall, the students have been a great addition to our workforce here at the ballpark. We look forward to the contining relationship with students and faculty of Henry Ford College.

Darcy Beagan - Technical Account Executive, Adecco Engineering & Technical

The career fair was very well attended with a steady stream of candidates coming to my table. During the event I was impressed to learn that HFC has an Alternative Energy Curriculum which is directly targeted toward many of my current clients’ needs and job openings.
