Marlene White have been the full time Children and Families Program Director at Henry Ford College since Fall/2012. She came to Henry Ford College with over 36 years of experience in the early childhood profession. Marlene has a Master of Art in Early Childhood Education, and is presently a part time graduate student at Wayne State University seeking a Doctorate in Early Childhood Education, with a focus on Literacy (content area: reading & writing).

Before coming to Henry Ford College, Ms. White taught in early childhood programs at both Wayne County Community College District and University of Detroit Mercy. Before venturing into higher education however, she worked for over 18 years with Hamtramck Public Schools and later moved on to become the Associate Director at Wayne State University’s Merrill Palmer Child Development Lab. After leaving Merrill Palmer, Marlene worked closely with programs such as Development Centers and Leaps and Bounds which supported early social-emotional development and Literacy in homes and child care programs.

Additionally, from 2009-2012, Marlene was the Site Leader for The Guidance Center-Lincoln Park Head Start Program. As a well-rounded early childhood educator, she prides herself in regularly presenting at conferences at both the national and local level. Marlene White is a member of early childhood organizations such as, NAEYC, IRA, and NBCDI.
