Angelina Zaytseva, M.F.A.
Angelina (“Angie Andrea”) is a costume designer and educator specializing in theatrical design, makeup, and visual storytelling for the stage, film, and dance. She serves as the resident costume/makeup designer and as instructor in theatre arts at Henry Ford College.
Angie holds an M.F.A. in Costume Design from the University of Florida and a B.S. in Theatre Arts from Portland State University. During her graduate studies, she held a variety of instructional and technical roles at UF, including Instructor of Record, Teaching Assistant, Draper/First Hand, Wardrobe Supervisor, and Costume Shop Staff. Her work included curriculum development, classroom instruction, performer fittings, tailoring, costume crew supervision, and shop organization and inventory. She also mentored undergraduate designers and regularly guided students through professional production processes.
Her academic design credits include Dog Act, I Am the Dead Man, and Blood at the Root at the University of Florida, as well as Twelfth Night and Les Mamelles de Tirésias at Portland State University. She was also a featured designer for Queer Opera’s second season, a collage of classical opera scenes reimagined through queer perspectives.
Before joining HFC, Angie spent two years working professionally in Upstate New York as a costume designer and wardrobe supervisor. She designed The Wizard of Oz and Escape to Margaritaville at Cortland Repertory Theatre, and collaborated with Red House Arts Center on productions including Misery (costume designer), Inherit the Wind, and The Sound of Music (wardrobe supervisor).
