Music Lyrics
Star Spangled Banner
National Anthem of the United States of America
Text by Francis Scott Key
Music by John Stafford Smith
Oh, say, can you see
By the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hail'd
At the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars
Through the perilous fight
O'er the ramparts we watch'd
Were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare
The bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night
That our flag was still there
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free
And the home of the brave?
Pro Bono Omnium (For the Good Of All)
The official school song and spirit song of Henry Ford College, Dearborn, Michigan, USA.
Lyrics: Lawrence A. Wik, Jasmine Young
Music: G. Kevin Dewey
For the strength of community, for the joy of diversity, for the hope of humanity, we sing in one accord.
For the love of artistry, for the lessons of history, for the pride of industry, the hallmark of Henry Ford:
Pro bono omnium: For The Good Of All.
Pro bono omnium: Heed the clarion call!
Pro bono omnium: Stand together, tall.
Pro bono omnium: For The Good Of All.
Hawks are Flying High
Sing out for Henry Ford;
Hawks are flying high!
Sing out for Henry Ford;
Hear our vict’ry cry!
Rah! Rah! Rah!
Sing out for Henry Ford;
Reaching for the sky!
Sing out for Henry Ford;
Hawks are flying high!
Go Hawks!
About the Pin
The pin is a replica of the Henry Ford College seal. The shape and design represent a crest and shield. On the shield is a torch representing knowledge and academic achievement, and a hawk representing extracurricular activities. The Latin inscription, Pro Bono Omnium, means “For the Good of All.” The three-link chain represents the community college as the connecting link between high school and a four-year college or university. The Greek cross on which the above are superimposed is a symbol of faith, good works, and the golden rule.
Honorary Nursing Pin Recipient
An honorary nursing pin is presented to a person who has demonstrated exemplary support of the School of Nursing.
