What Happens After I Fill Out the FAFSA?

After the form is sent to the Federal Government, an analysis of the information will be released to HFCC. HFCC's Financial Aid Office will send you an award letter listing the forms of aid and the amounts for which you are eligible. When you enroll in classes, you can charge tuition and fees up to the amount of your grant and loans.

What to Do if You Have Already Applied for Financial Aid Or Have Been Selected For Verification

Check the status of your HFCC Financial Aid online. If you were selected for "verification," click here to obtain forms.

Please note students who print their Award Letters online and are accepting Direct Loan funds must also complete an electronic Master Promissory Note at dlenote.ed.gov and Entrance Counseling at http://www.dl.ed.gov before their loan funding will be disbursed. Click here for more information.

Financial Aid Refund Check Information

Financial aid refund checks for the Fall 2009 semester will begin to be distributed on Friday, September 11, 2009. Keep checking here for Winter 2010 information. Only students who have no prior semester balances can expect to receive a check at that time. Students carrying a balance on their account from a prior semester should not expect to receive their check until sometime in late-September or early-October. Use our online tool to check the status of your refund check.

Attention: Beginning Winter 2009, Direct Loan First-time, First year borrowers are subject to a 30-day disbursement delay. If you are a first-time, first-year borrower you will not be eligible to receive a Fall 09 disbursement until after Friday, September 25, 2009.
