Financial Aid Announcements - Winter 2012
- Financial Aid census date for Winter 2012 is March 19, 2012
This is a correction from what is listed in the 2011-2012 Financial Aid Facts Booklet. For additional information regarding the census date, please refer to the Financial Aid Facts Booklet.
- The HFCC Financial Aid Application for Spring/Summer 2012 is now available
The HFCC Spring/Summer 2012 Financial Aid Application is now available. All students who are planning on attending HFCC for the Spring or Summer semesters and want to be considered for financial aid must submit this application. The Financial Aid Office will begin reviewing Spring/Summer 2012 Applications in late March.

If you need to submit documents, you can avoid waiting in line by using the Financial Aid drop box located outside of our office. When using the drop box, please make sure all documents are completely filled out, signed, and contain either your HFCC ID or SSN.
Apply Today for Financial Aid
To apply for financial aid, students must submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA application covers both state and federal financial aid.
- The Federal School Code for Henry Ford Community College is 002270.
- The 2011-2012 FAFSA Web Worksheet is available both online and in the HFCC Financial Aid Office (2012-2013 worksheet is not yet available)
- To apply for financial aid for Winter 2012 and/or Spring/Summer 2012, students must submit the 2011-2012 FAFSA.
- To apply for financial aid for Fall 2012, Winter 2013 and Spring/Summer 2013, students must submit the 2012-2013 FAFSA.
- HFCC Financial Aid will being reviewing 2012-2013 FAFSAs after May 1, 2012.

What Happens After I Fill Out the FAFSA?
After the form is sent to the Federal Government, an analysis of the information will be released to HFCC. HFCC's Financial Aid Office will send you an award letter listing the forms of aid and the amounts for which you are eligible. When you enroll in classes, you can charge tuition and fees up to the amount of your grant and loans.
What to Do if You Have Already Applied for Financial Aid Or Have Been Selected For Verification
Check the status of your HFCC Financial Aid online. If you were selected for "verification," click here to obtain forms.
Please note students who print their Award Letters online and are accepting Direct Loan funds must also complete an electronic Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling at StudentLoans.gov before their loan funding will be disbursed. Click here for more information.

Financial Aid Refund Check Information
Refunds of financial aid payments exceeding tuition, fees and College Store purchases are made by the HFCC Cashier’s Office. Financial aid refund checks for Winter/2012 will begin to be distributed on Friday, February 3, 2012. Use WebAdvisor to view the status of your refund check.
Attention: Direct Loan First-time, First year borrowers are subject to a 30-day disbursement delay. If you are a first-time, first-year borrower you will not be eligible to receive a Winter 2012 disbursement until after Tuesday, February 7, 2011.
In addition, students with loans for Winter 2012 'only' are subject to Federal Regulations which require that 'single semester' loans be split into two equal disbursements, the first occuring at the beginning of the term and the second disbursement occuring at the mid-point. For Winter 20102, second disbursements will be made on or after March 9, 2012.
