Workforce and Professional Development Testing Center

The WFPD Testing Center meets a variety of testing needs for the community, administering and proctoring exams for certification, professional advancement, GED, and more.

The Henry Ford College Workforce and Professional Development Testing Center, located at HFC's East Campus M-TEC building, meets a variety of testing needs for the community. In partnership with testing organizations such as IQT, Kryterion, and ACT Workkeys, the center administers examinations that allow people to become certified or advance in their professions.

As a PearsonVUE testing center, the GED (General Equivalency Diploma, considered equal to a diploma from an accredited high school) is also offered on a regular basis. Proctoring services are available to assist distance education students who are attending non-local colleges.

Local businesses in need of testing services can have tests administered to their employees at the center or on-site at their location.

ACT WorkKeys Authorized Testing Center

WorkKeys tests assess employees and students in workplace skill areas such as applied technology, reading for information, and applied mathematics. It is used by employers in conjunction with workplace skills analysis (which can be provided by M-TEC) to develop targeted training programs. It is also approved for obtaining the “highly qualified” designation for educational paraprofessionals in Michigan under the No Child Left Behind Act.

Students, job seekers, and employees may also take the ACT's Work Keys® assessments to earn a National Career Readiness Certificate. This certificate is a portable credential which verifies to employers that job seekers have attained core employability skills in reading for information, applied mathematics, and locating information.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

This test allows students to receive college credit(s) for college level subject knowledge they have acquired outside of the classroom. The CLEP tests are transferable. Students should check with the college or university of their choice to obtain the transfer institution’s score requirements.

Visit the CLEP website for a list of CLEP exams and HFC course equivalencies.
