Training for Michigan Growth Industries
HFCC Home to Training for Growing Film Industry in Effort to Revitalize Economy
To assist in the economic development of southeast Michigan and to help develop a workforce for the state’s burgeoning feature film industry, the Michigan Technical Education Center (M-TEC) at HFCC offers a Basic Film Set Training course to prepare people for entry-level employment in the film and television industry. Partners in this workforce development project include the Office of the Wayne County Executive, the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth (DLEG), the Southeast Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA) and TicTock Studios of Holland, Mich.
HFCC’s Partnership with CISCO
HFCC has teamed with CISCO, the worldwide leader in networking that has transformed how people connect, communicate, and collaborate in order to provide high-tech training for students in preparation for 21st century jobs. CISCO has certified HFCC as a CISCO Networking Academy. Through this innovative partnership, HFCC and CISCO prepare students for the demands and opportunities in the networking field. This partnership teaches students how to design, build, and maintain computer networks that enable students to develop the skills needed to compete in an increasingly technology-dependent workplace. Students can also prepare for the CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) exam in order to become more marketable and more competitive.
Culinary Arts Offers Accelerated Degree Program
HFCC’s Culinary Arts Program now offers an accelerated degree program tailored for those who have undergraduate degrees and for high school students in a vocational education program with which HFCC has articulation agreements. The Culinary Arts Program offers an associate’s degree in Applied Science that is accredited as an exemplary program by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Accrediting Commission (ACFEFAC). The ACFEFAC is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), which brings added prestige to this program. Additionally, HFCC’s Culinary Arts Program offers career certificates in Baking & Pastry and Professional Restaurant Service.
