Building Bridges of Understanding Lecture April 17
HFCC's Building Bridges of Understanding Lecture Series sponsored by the Religious Studies Program, the HFCC Council of World Cultures and the HFCC Diversity Club presents its final lecture for the 2013-14 academic year, “To The Rock That Is Higher Than I: My Primitive Baptist Roots in Alabama.”
This lecture, presented by HFCC English Professor Nancy Owen Nelson, takes place Thursday, April 17, 11:10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Rosenau Rooms A and B in the Andrew A. Mazzara Administrative Services and Conference Center (ASCC).
Nelson’s lecture will cover research and a narrative about her quest to understand a grandmother she never knew. She will attempt to build a bridge between herself and her grandmother’s faith, as well as the region from which she came.
Nelson has served HFCC as a faculty member at the College for more than 20 years in both full-time and adjunct capacities. She has directed the Cultural Activities program and also won a Faculty Lecture Award during her time at HFCC.
This lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, please call John Carroll at 313.845.9753.
