Journalists from the United Arab Emirates Visit HFCC
As part of the U.S. Dept. of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs International Visitor Leadership Program, journalists from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sharjah Media Corp. visited HFCC on March 19.
The purpose of this visit was for the UAE delegates to learn about HFCC, its diverse students, the HFCC Arab Cultural Studies program, the HFCC Telecommunication program and HFCC’s relationship with the media.
In turn, the UAE delegates showed HFCC President Stan Jensen and several members of his cabinet a short film about the establishment of the UAE in 1971. It also explained the country’s federal make-up and provided an overview of higher education, health care, and economic and social development. The film conveyed the UAE’s place in the world.
The Sharjah Media Corp. visitors included AL JASMI program Presenter/Producer Alya Mohamed Abdalla Ahmed; AL MESMARI Program Producer Ahmed Hassan Mohamed; AL RADIMI Program Presenter/Producer Muna Abdelaziz Ahmed Saleh; AL SUWAIDI Director Naser Mohamed Almal Mohamed; AL SUWAIDI Principal News Producer Sultan Ahmed Sultan Alqatari; and Rasheed Alnozili, editor of the Yemeni American News.
“I was honored to meet these delegates and learn more about the Sharjah Media Group, their country and the beauty of their culture. I found the dialogue we opened to be very interesting. I hope it will lead to more win/win opportunities for our HFCC students.” said Jensen.
