Joe Sorokac Chili Bowl Competition Feb. 5

Monday, January 27, 2014
Umm....Chili!

HFCC adjunct faculty will show off their culinary talents for the coveted Joe Sorokac Chili Bowl on Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 11 a.m. until the pots are empty in the Skylight Café.

Not only will sampling the adjunct faculty’s chili warm you up in this inclement weather, but – more importantly – the proceeds will benefit the Joseph A. Sorokac, Jr. Scholarship, which awards annual scholarships to an HFCC adjunct or to a dependent of an HFCC adjunct. Sorokac was a long-time psychology adjunct instructor at HFCC and a founding member of the HFCC Adjunct Faculty Organization (AFO). After he passed away, the AFO established this scholarship in his name.

The Joe Sorokac Chili Bowl is open to the public. Tickets cost $5 ($2 for students with a valid student ID card). If you cannot make it to the Chili Bowl but would like to donate to this scholarship, you can make a tax-deductible contribution to the HFCC-AFO Founders’ Scholarship Fund. Contributions can be sent via interoffice mail in care of the AFO or through U.S. mail to the following address:
