Dance is back! Classes resume at HFC this fall

Dance classes resume for the fall 2022 semester.

As HFC transitions safely out of COVID-19, the College will bring back its award-winning dance program this fall, including the Full Circle Dance Company.

For the Fall 2022 semester, HFC will offer the following dance classes:

  • DNCA 1421: Intermediate Ballet
  • DNCA 1422: Intermediate Ballet II
  • DNCA 1521: Intermediate Modern Dance

Laura Zimmerman, who has taught dance at Eastern Michigan University, will join the HFC faculty, according to Associate Dean of the HFC School of Liberal Arts Robert Yahrmatter.

“What we offer at the College is much more affordable than taking private lessons at a studio. And we offer degrees for those who want to earn a degree or transfer,” said Yahrmatter. “Laura is really good at what she does and is a welcome asset to the College. We are the only community college in the area to offer a dance program that includes transfer opportunities.”

Full Circle Dance Company

Full Circle was founded in 1994 and offers a class at HFC that normally consists of 10-20 students, in which the choreography of guest artists, faculty, and students is taught and rehearsed. Although Full Circle does not compete, it does offer several concerts and performances on and off campus.

The Dance Company has also participated in the American College Dance Association Regional Festival annually for more than 20 years. This provides an opportunity for students to grow as artists and fine tune their dancing skills. The faculty at HFC and guest dancers work together to help prepare students and give them the skills they need to reach their goals.

Apply to HFC today to take dance classes. Or, talk your academic advisor about signing up.
