Apply today for Summer Research Fellowship program at U-M

Applications for the University of Michigan Community College Summer Fellowship Program (CCSFP) open Monday, Dec. 5, so apply today for this opportunity that has benefited many HFC students!

The application deadline is Friday, Feb. 10, 2023. The program begins Tuesday, May 30, 2023 and ends Friday, Aug. 4, 2023.

  • Personal statement
  • Short essay questions
  • Résumé
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Copy of all transcripts – high school (or GED) and community college

Many different opportunities available

The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) (which falls under the umbrella of the CCSFP) offers a 10-week paid Summer Research Fellowship for HFC students interested in transferring to U-M in Ann Arbor (transfer is not required). Opportunities are available in a wide variety of fields, including the following:

  • Social Sciences
  • Arts and Humanities
  • Health Sciences
  • Natural and Environmental Sciences
  • Engineering
  • Physical Sciences

UROP seeks to attract a diverse student population, including historically underrepresented students, first generation college students, students from low-income backgrounds, women in science, and veterans.

CCSFP benefits

Those students participating in CCSFP will:

  • Build a close working student/mentor relationship with U-M faculty and research scholars.
  • Develop students’ professional and transferable skills in their field of study or major.
  • Gain familiarity with U-M campus resources and programs.
  • Connect with representatives from U-M admissions, financial aid, academic advising, as well as learn about transfer procedures and strategies.
  • Earn a stipend for Research Work of $4,000 for the summer (some students may even qualify for a housing stipend as well).
