The Support Staff Association at HFC will host its 4th annual Trunk or Treat on Friday, Oct. 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the Welcome Center (Bldg. WC) on the main campus.

Trunk or Treat is a family-friendly event where volunteers decorate the back of their cars for Halloween, dress up in costumes, load up on candy, and park their cars side-by-side for children to safely "trick or treat" from car to car. The adults get to socialize while seeing all the children's cute and scary costumes.

Volunteering

To make this year’s Trunk or Treat successful, “trunkers” and volunteers are needed. We need “trunkers” who will decorate their vehicle and pass out treats to the trick or treaters. You will need to bring enough items for up to 400 children. There will be prizes for the most creative trunks or booths. This year, it will be up to the public to choose the winner. There are several other ways to volunteer if you are interested. Please visit our sign-up genius page.

In addition to Trunk or Treat, the SSA is also helping the Dearborn Heights Police Department find volunteers for their Dearborn Heights Trunk or Treat event on Thursday, Oct. 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at DHPD headquarters at 25637 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn Heights.

Donating

There are several ways that you can donate to this event:

Candy: We need lots of candy! Candy donations can be dropped off to two locations on campus:

  • The Office of Campus Safety (Bldg. N). Contact Sarah Sullivan at stsullivan@hfcc.edu to coordinate a drop-off.
  • The 3rd floor by the elevators of the Welcome Center. Contact Heather Snead at hmsnead@hfcc.edu to coordinate a drop-off.

Look for decorated boxes at both locations for no contact drop-offs. The no contact drop-off boxes should be in place by Friday, Oct. 1.

Prizes: We are accepting prizes for best trunk, costume, or game winners.

Monetary Donations: We are accepting monetary donations. PayPal is our preferred method for receiving monetary donations by using this email address: supportstaffassn@hfcc.edu. Cash or checks can be submitted to SSA Treasurer Joni Morris. She can be reached at jlmorris8@hfcc.edu.

Free and open to the public: volunteers sign up by 10/22

Trunk or Treat is free and open to the public. Trunkers and volunteers must sign up no later than Friday, Oct. 22.
