HFC’s Black Male and QUEENS (Quintessential Unique Essence of Ebony Necessary Sisters) Focus Group will begin weekly meetings for Fall 2021 on Wednesday, Sept. 15, from noon to 2:00 p.m. The meetings, which will be held every Wednesday for this semester until Dec. 15 (unless otherwise noted), will be virtual.

HFC sociology professor Dr. Kalvin DaRonne Harvell is the faculty advisor for the Focus Group. The Group's purpose is to challenge and change the accepted narrative regarding Black academic success. It provides an atmosphere in which students are comfortable, and through strength, can learn to deal with discomfiture. The Focus Group exposes them to opportunities within and outside HFC to help them academically and professionally.

“The Black Male and QUEENS Focus Group is proud to continue its mission of being an academic and social support system for HFC students. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, Focus Group meetings will be held virtually during the Fall 2021 semester. This has not dampened our commitment, spirit, or enthusiasm! We look forward to reconnecting with our returning Focus Group members and building relationships with new students,” said QUEENS co-faculty advisor Chardin Claybourne.

All HFC students are invited to attend.

Please register for these meetings on Zoom
