The Hawks’ Nest reopens for Fall 2020

Interior shot of the Hawks' Nest's shelves
The Hawks' Nest has reopened for Fall 2020 to serve students experiencing food insecurity. It will be open on Monday and Thursday. For safety reasons, students must make an appointment.

Effective Aug. 31, the Hawks’ Nest – HFC’s Student Food Pantry – is open for Fall 2020. The Hawks' next is on the first floor of the Andrew A. Mazzara Administrative Services & Conference Center (ASCC) (Building L) on the main campus.

The Hawks’ Nest offers non-perishable food and personal care items to students in need. Any student enrolled in at least one credit hour at HFC during the current semester is eligible to use the pantry and may receive food twice per month.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Hawks’ Nest is only open for distribution on Monday and Thursday, by appointment, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

How it works

When you request an appointment, a staff member will respond and assist you in completing the online registration process. You will also complete an online food order form to assist the staff in selecting food for your pre-packed bags. You will pick up your pre-packaged bags from a table outside the Hawks’ Nest. You will enter the ASCC building through the north entrance.

When picking up your food at the allotted time, you must follow these safety protocols:

  • Completing the HFC online health screening process
  • Wearing a mask that covers both your nose and mouth
  • Maintaining a social distance of six feet from everyone around you
  • Sanitizing your hands
