Henry Ford College,

teaming up to prepare
the next generation of
skilled trades
professionals
to lead the way
in the energy industry.

Get Into Energy

Are you looking for a rewarding career that requires intelligence, stamina, and creative problem-solving, and does not require 4+ years of college? Get ready, because demand for energy workers is high! Within the next 5 to 10 years, half of the current skilled workforce in the energy trades will be eligible to retire. Many more skilled trades workers will be needed in these high-paying professions.

Classroom to career in one year

The Power and Trades Pathways program is your path to these high-paying professions! The program is available to high school graduates 17 years of age or older. The pathways provide fundamental skills and knowledge for in-demand job roles within the energy sector’s varied and exciting skilled trade areas such as electric operations, gas operations, construction, and engineer technicians.

HFC offers several certificate-based programs that can be completed in one year. HFC uses a stackable credential training approach that teaches the core skills for energy-related skilled trades. You can choose to obtain one or more certifications over time, thus "stacking" your credentials.

If you are looking for a two-year degree to start or boost your career in the energy sector, we also offer an Electrical Engineering Technology Associate in Applied Science that supports many career paths.

We welcome industry partners

If you are interested in hiring skilled graduates from this program, donating decommissioned equipment, or contributing to the training process, please check out our employers and partners page.

Students work in the skilled trades from the beginning of their time on campus. Find your future at HFC!
