Social Science, Arts, and Fitness Division

The Social Science, Arts, and Fitness Division at Henry Ford College (HFC) encompasses a wide variety of academic programs and disciplines.

This division helps students recognize that living full lives involves a perspective that is multidimensional, interdependent, and well-rounded. It provides students with an education of the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. It helps students understand themselves and the society and world in which they live through academic studies, civic engagement, service learning opportunities, the study of the arts, as well as health and physical education.

Its faculty has dedicated themselves to intellectual curiosity and critical thinking, as well as social, political, cultural, economic, environmental, and personal awareness for all students. It raises the profile of the College by actively engaging the community through performances, exhibitions, conferences, and outreach. Further, the division encourages the community to collaborate with it as it seeks ways to investigate and understand the complexities of societal problems and improve the quality of life of the world in which we live.

The Social Science, Arts, and Fitness Division cultivates the importance of well-being, healthy lifestyle choices, creativity and problem solving, respect for the diversity of our local and world communities, expression of the human spirit, and an enduring appreciation of the arts and humanities.
