First Appointment and Eligibility
The first appointment you will schedule with the Assisted Learning Services Department is to determine your eligibility for accommodations. You may also receive other administrative assistance during your first appointment.
When arriving for your appointment, bring your written documentation of your disability (exceptions can be made if you have a permanent, visible handicap). Your initial appointment is normally scheduled for one hour.
Acceptable sources for written documentation of a disability include, but are not limited to:
- Medical doctors
- Social Workers
- Teachers and educators
- Michigan Jobs Commission
- Other rehabilitation agencies
We encourage you to see an Assisted Learning Services professional whenever you need to do so. After the initial counseling session to determine your eligibility for accommodations, follow-up sessions are generally scheduled for 30 minutes.
