AES Engineers Scholarship

American Cancer Society

Cancer survivors age 20 or younger may be eligible for the Great Lakes Division Foundation Young Survivor Scholarship Program. More information is available at www.cancer.org/scholarships.

American Lawyer Academy Viral Video Scholarship

The American Lawyer Academy Viral Video Scholarship Contest offers $25,000 in scholarships toward college tuition at a recognized academic institution. Arab American Women's Business Council Scholarship

Belleville Area Women's Club Scholarship

An annual scholarship is awarded to a woman in our surrounding community, a scholarship to "go back" to school and further her personal education.  BigSun Scholarship

The BigSun Organization offers an annual $500 scholarship to a young student/athlete.  The successful applicant will be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport at that institution or in the community.  Please visit their website at http://www.bigsunathletics.com to learn how to apply.

New Buick Achievers Scholarship

As a fellow supporter of students and education, we wanted to share some exciting news!

The prestigious Buick Achievers Scholarship has expanded eligibility to include current college undergraduates as well as high school seniors. This scholarship, funded by the GM Foundation, is designed to help students who are leaders in both the classroom and their communities, but who may not have the financial means to attend college.

The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program will award:

  • Up to $25,000 per year for 100 students --AND--
  • $2,000 one-time awards for 1,000 students

We encourage students to apply who…

  • Are high school seniors or current college undergraduates enrolling for full-time study at an accredited four-year U.S. college or university for the 2012-13 academic year.
  • Plan to major in a specified course of study that focuses on Engineering/Technology, or select Design and Business-related programs.
  • Have an interest in a career in the automotive or related industries.

Coca-Cola Scholarships Foundation

Scholarships are available to students of two-year institutions who demonstrate a commitment to community service.  Information can be found at www.coca-colascholars.org.  Click on the Apply online/Two-Year Colleges Scholarship link.

Datatel Scholars Foundation

A variety of scholarship opportunities are available to students at Datatel client organizations, which includes Henry Ford Community College.  To be eligible for this scholarship, you must apply online here. Application deadline is January 31st.

Executive Women International

Scholarships are available for women in transition through the Executive Women’s International Association.  Information can be found at www.executivewomen.org.

Grainger Tools for Tomorrow Scholarship

Scholarships are available for second-year students enrolled in a technical education program at the associate level.  Technical Education Program means a program of study leading to an associate’s degree or licensed certification in electronic systems, heating/air conditioning, plumbing, welding, automotive, construction or other industrial trade.

Grand Rapids Community Foundation Minority Scholarship

The Warner Norcross & Judd LLP Firm sponsors an annual Minority Scholarship Program through the Grand Rapids Community Foundation that awards $2,000 to a paralegal/legal assistant student and $1,000 to a legal secretarial student. Scholarships are awarded to students of color accepted or currently attending an accredited school in Michigan and current or former residents of Michigan. Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) Nursing Program Scholarship

The Nursing Scholarship Program is a selective program of the U.S. Government that helps alleviate the critical shortage of registered nurses currently experienced by certain types of health care facilities by helping needy students complete their registered nurse training. Hispanic Scholarship Fund

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers a variety of scholarships including the Community College Transfer Scholarship and Gates Millenium Scholars. More information is available at www.hsf.net/.

NewMichigan Association- Education of Young Children

The Michigan Association for the Education of Young Children is offering a $1,000 scholarship for a student who is majoring or minoring in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field, e.g. Early Childhood Special Education, Family Studies. Students who are matriculating from a two-year institution to a four year institution are eligible for this scholarship. A detailed description of the scholarship as well as an application form is available at www.MiAEYC.org. Applications must be postmarked by January 23, 2012 and the award will apply to the fall semester 2012.

Marathon Petroleum Michigan Refining Division Scholarship in Process Technology

  • Awarded to students earning certification in Process Technology or an Associates in Applied Science in Process Technology
  • Full tuition, fees and books for PTEC Certification Program
  • Confirmation of Detroit residency with high school diploma or GED
  • Submit letter of interest and willingness to commit to the academic requirements of the PTE Program
  • Three written letters of reference specific to this scholarship application

Michigan Retailers Association Scholarship

The Michigan Retailers Association (MRA) has launched its scholarship competition for the 2011/2012 year. Awards are up to $500 for community college students. These awards are for one year and are not based on financial need. Students are encouraged to apply online through MRA’s website at www.retailers.com by April 1, 2011.

Michigan State University Western Wayne County Alumni Club

This is a transfer scholarship established to assist HFCC students who will be going on to Michigan State University for their bachelor degree work. Contact Mr. Sanford Sulkes at (734) 261-7272 for additional information.

Montana State University Presidential Scholarship

Montana State University Presidential Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship at Montana State University. It includes full tuition as well as a generous stipend. Postmark deadline for applications is January 4, 2011. The 2011 Presidential Scholorship application is available from the Montana State University website as PDF file.

NALS of Detroit Scholarship

NALS of Detroit Scholarship presents two (2) $500.00 nonrenewable tuition/books-only scholarship to those enrolled in a school of advanced education in the legal field.  The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of scholastic or legal career achievements, future career goals, demonstration of financial need, and leadership ability.  The scholarship award may be granted to any qualified applicant in the legal field. 

NALS of Michigan Scholarship

Annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000 nonrenewable tuition/books-only  scholarship to an individual enrolled, or planning to enroll, in a school of advanced education pursuing a degree in the legal field.  High school seniors as well as college students are eligible.  The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of scholastic or legal career achievements, future career goals, demonstration of financial need, and leadership ability.  The scholarship award may be granted to any qualified applicant in the legal field.

The candidate must:

  • Be a high school senior or enrolled in a school of advanced education (including current school year) or a NALS of Michigan member.
  • Have at least a B average, or if percentile system is used, not below 90 percent.
  • Be in need of financial assistance.
  • Be able to enroll in the fall term (2010).  Candidates nominated in prior years who meet current qualifications are eligible for re-nomination.

National Association for Legal Professionals

Scholarships are periodically available to students who are interested in careers in the law and/or criminal justice.  Information can be found at www.nals.org.

Nazareth Association of Kalamazoo Nursing Scholarship

Pearson Prize for Higher Education

The Pearson Prize supports students who have:

  • completed at least one year in college;
  • demonstrated leadership in community service;
  • been attending a two- or four-year school.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship at Grand Valley State University

Scholarship of up to $1,200 awarded to outstanding students who have achieved at least a 3.5 Cumulative Grade Point Average. Applicants must be a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society, apply for admission to Grand Valley State University by March 15 for the Fall semester of 2011, and be enrolled as a full time student at Grand Valley State University. You must submit a letter of application indicating your education and career goals and send a letter of recommendation from a faculty member. Russell J. Ebeid `62 ACCESS Scholarship

The Russell J. Ebeid `62 ACCESS Scholarship program is offering scholarships to Arab-American students at HFCC who will be transferring to Kettering University. The scholarships are anticipated to be $5,000 per year and are renewable for students meeting the University’s satisfactory academic progress standards for scholarships. Mr. Ebeid’s intent is to support Arab-American students who are interested in scholarship, cooperative education and an opportunity to become successful in their collegiate careers. Soroptimist International of Flat Rock

The members of the Flat Rock chapter are sharing information regarding the Virginia M. Wagner Educational Grant. Soroptimist International of Grosse Pointe - Women's Opportunity Scholarship Award

The Soroptimist International of Grosse Pointe provides two scholarship awards ($1,000 and $2,000) to women who are attending school in a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program. The $2,000 award recipient is then eligible for a regional award of $3,000 to $5,000 and a Soroptimist International of the Americas award of $10,000. The Michigan Community College Scholarship

A one-time $1,500 scholarship offered to entering students selected on the basis of their academic performance and other qualifications. The Michigan Community College Scholar Award

The Michigan Community College Scholar Award is a renewable $5,000 award that recognizes academic performance and other achievements such as membership in honor societies, community service, and participation in co-curricular activities. To be considered for the scholarship for winter 2011, students must submit an application by November 1, 2010. The application can be downloaded from: The Michigan Community College Scholar Award.

Many organizations outside of Henry Ford Community College offer scholarships to our students to support their educational needs. These scholarships are awarded by the particular organization to students who are pursuing a particular field of study or who meet other specific criteria. Students interested in pursuing these scholarships should follow the application protocols identified by the different organizations, as detailed below. 

Scholarship recipients are selected by the outside organizations; it is the student's responsibility to work with the organization regarding scholarship payment. Outside organizations can make checks payable to Henry Ford Community College and the organization/student should submit the check to the Financial Aid Office to be applied to the student account.
