Fitness Leadership

Why should you study fitness leadership at college? Because national fitness clubs, corporate fitness centers, area recreation facilities and hospitals all have a need for highly trained, certified exercise instructors and personal trainers.
If you're an athlete or you're going to be a physical education teacher, health-care professional, nutritionist or you're just an exercise enthusiast you can also benefit from these programs. You may find, too, that having two complementary areas of concentration and expertise will make you more marketable.
At HFCC you can choose between the Certificate of Achievement and the two-year Associate in Applied Science degree program.
Both educational paths offer a variety of courses including Exercise Physiology, Nutrition, Methods of Teaching Exercise and First Aid.
Many HFCC Fitness Leadership graduates pursue advanced degrees at Eastern Michigan University or Wayne State University, schools which have strong exercise science programs and good transfer agreements with HFCC.
