I have been teaching 5th grade at Riverside Middle school for ov er a year. My classes at HFCC prepared me well for teaching. I use many of the principles and activities that I learned there in my own classroom.
I was concerned that I would struggle academically when I transferred to U of M-Dearborn. That was not the case at all. The transistion was much easier than I expected due in no small part to the teaching strategies that my instructors at HFCC utilized.
I owe my success both in obtaining my degree and in my career to the strong foundations that I received at Henry Ford Community College.

I really liked the fact that at HFCC I didn't feel like just a number or grade. I felt like a person and that my instructors were really concerned about my education and well-being. I also liked the fact that good grades were rewareded. I was able to become a member of the HFCC Honors Program and enhance futher my eductional experience. I was also able to get the same education as a university without spending university money.

At HFCC my instructors were encouraging and supportive. HFCC is agreat, affordable way to make the transition from high school to a four-year university. At HFCC you have the freedom to chose and change your field of study without going into debt!

I have been most fortunate to be taught at HFCC by instructors well known for their mastery of their subjects and well-developed methods of teaching. Several instructors have stressed upon me what I must know in order to be successful as an educator and be at the forefront of my career.
HFCC is remarkable in that its tuition rates are comparable, instructor-to-student ratio is low, first and second year courses are well regarded and are comparable to other higher education institutions that have selective admissions procedures.

HFCC's pre-education program has helped me make my decision about becoming a teacher early on in my educ ation by allowing me to experience it first hand through field experiences at Woodworth Middle School. I was fortunate enough to obtain a two-year scholarship through the Honors Program at HFCC, which was a great help. I believe that the scholarship along with the personal relationships that I formed with the instructors, have given me an edge in my educational endeavors.
