7/27/2010
Family fun continues this summer at the Dearborn Farmers and Artisans Market, co-sponsored by Henry Ford Community College and the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce. The seasonal market, open every Friday until Oct. 29 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., is located in the parking lot behind the Bryant Branch Library on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn.
The market offers Michigan-grown vegetables, fruit and flowers, and locally-produced baked goods and cheese, as well as arts and crafts by local artisans, entertainment and children's activities.
This Friday, July 30, representatives from HFCC's University Transfer, Advising, and Career Counseling Center will offer techniques on stress management in conjunction with free blood pressure screenings provided by HFCC Nursing program students.
Fridays at the market in August will continue to provide fun for the entire family with a variety of activities. On Aug. 6, HFCC's Fine Arts and Fitness Division will showcase ceramic art from its students and staff. On Aug. 13, Faculty from HFCC's Nursing Division will offer free blood pressure screenings and provide information on how to prevent the spread of infections.
Tips on how to stay fit and healthy at the office will be offered on Aug. 20 by HFCC's Wellness at Work program. On Aug. 27, HFCC will provide an Italian cooking demonstration. Also, a playdough activity for children will be offered by the staff of HFCC's Child Activity Center.
In addition, representatives from HFCC's Enrollment Development office will be at the market every Friday to distribute information about the college's programs and student support services.
