Free Career Workshops

There is still time to attend Henry Ford Community College's 2009 Fall Career Workshop Series presented by HFCC's Job Placement office. The series is focused on obtaining and maintaining jobs in the current economic environment.
The series is free to current HFCC students and graduates and will be held on select days until Dec. 7. All workshops will be held on HFCC's main campus at 5101 Evergreen Road in Dearborn.
On Wednesday, Nov. 4, a Job Search Strategies workshop will be held from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Hackett Conference room, Room H-150, located in HFCC's Health Careers Education Center. The workshop will present the latest and most effective methods for conducting a local, regional or national job search.
A Hands-On Resume Writing workshop will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 10 in Room L-321 of HFCC's Liberal Arts Building from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. The workshop will present practical “hands-on” resume writing experience and instruction and a chance to work on resumes with an advisor. Participants should bring an electronic copy of their resume on a CD or jump drive.
On Wednesday, Nov. 11, a Cover Letter Writing workshop will be held in Room L-314 of HFCC's Liberal Arts Building from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The workshop will instruct participants on composing a well-written and individually crafted cover letter. In addition, feedback will be provided as well as ways to make a cover letter stand out.
A Salary Negotiations workshop will be presented on Monday, Dec. 7 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Hackett Conference Room, Room H-150, in HFCC's Health Careers Education Center. The workshop will focus on negotiating salaries and learning what points are important and what to say in salary negotiations.
