HFCC hosts open house April 21

Henry Ford Community College will hold an open house for prospective students Tuesday, Apr. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on HFCC's main campus, located at 5101 Evergreen Rd. in Dearborn. Complimentary food and refreshments will be provided at this free event.
HFCC presents 'The Odyssey' April 16-26

The Henry Ford Community College Theater program will present 'The Odyssey,' directed by HFCC theater instructor Gerry Dzuiblinski, Apr. 16-26 in the Adray Auditorium of the Mackenzie Fine Arts Center on HFCC's main campus, located at 5101 Evergreen Road in Dearborn. Show times are 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students with ID. For tickets, call 313-845-9817.
Former player coaches team to nationals

For Henry Ford Community College men's basketball coach Abe Mashhour, just named Michigan Community College Association (MCCAA) Coach of the Year, this season's goals were for his Hawks to qualify for the regional tournament and to beat two-time defending national champion Mott Community College.
Now, for the first time in the 51-year history of HFCC basketball, the Hawks played in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament Mar. 18 - 21 in Danville, Illinois.
Bowl for athletic scholarships

Henry Ford Community College's Athletic Department will hold a Bowling Outing for Athletic Scholarships on Sunday, Apr. 5 at Cherry Hill Lanes located at 300 N. Inkster Road just north of Cherry Hill in Dearborn Heights.
Registration for the event will begin at 12:15 p.m. and bowling will start at 1 p.m. Cost is $30 per bowler or $150 per five-person team. Registration includes two games of cosmic bowling, shoes, pizza, pop, mystery games and three raffle tickets for prizes.

As part of its 70th anniversary celebration, Henry Ford Community College will present 'Nothing Gold Can Stay - A Spring Star Talk,' for the public, on selected Tuesday evenings. The free shows will be on Apr. 7, 14 and 28, May 5, 12, 19 and 26 and June 2, 9 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. HFCC's planetarium is located on the upper level of the Science Building on the main campus at 5101 Evergreen Rd. in Dearborn.

The Henry Ford Community College Nursing Program means a lot to HFCC nursing instructor and Student Nursing Association advisor Susan Shunkwiler - it's even a part of her family. Not only is she a graduate of the HFCC Nursing program, but her husband and sister-in-law are as well. Her son, David, also will graduate with an associate's degree from the program in May.

Henry Ford Community College alumna Sherry Duquet and Sandra Boulton, owners of the Dearborn-based jewelry company Solstice Designs, will host the fourth annual Project Mother's Day fundraiser, “The Courage Within,” on Friday, Mar. 20 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Dearborn Hills Golf Course Club House, located at 1300 S. Telegraph Road just north of Michigan Avenue. Cost of attendance is $20.

To encourage men to consider a healthcare career, Henry Ford Community College's University Transfer, Advising and Career Counseling Center will present its fourth annual Non-Traditional Seminar for Men in Health Careers and Nursing on Wednesday, March 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Hackett Conference Room in the Health Careers Education Center on HFCC's main campus, located at 5101 Evergreen Road in Dearborn.

Henry Ford Community College will hold a panel discussion on “Women's Leadership in the Michigan Economy; Reflecting on 70 years of Innovation and Change” on Wednesday, March 18 at noon in the Andrew A. Mazzara Administrative Services and Conference Center on HFCC's main campus at 5101 Evergreen in Dearborn. The event will feature prominent women of local and national acclaim, speaking on ways to help improve Michigan's economy.
