Michigan Gallery was a cornerstone of the Detroit art scene throughout much of the 1970s, 80s and 90s. From its inception in 1973, Detroit's most thought-provoking and provocative exhibitions were typically at Michigan Gallery. After 27 years, Michigan Gallery closed its doors in 1998. The space became the Zeitgeist Gallery, which continued to offer some of the more challenging exhibitions in the Detroit area until it finally closed its doors in December of 2008.

This exhibition is a tribute to Michigan Gallery. It documents, honors and brings together the archives and work by many of the artists who were part of the glory days of Michigan Gallery. The exhibition defines the importance of Michigan Gallery and its impact on the Detroit art scene throughout the era.
