Graduation Requirements for General Education
Information Literacy and Written Communication
The Information Literacy General Education requirement at Henry Ford Community College states that all graduates will be able to:
- Identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively use information to solve problems.
The Written Communication General Education requirement at Henry Ford Community College states that all graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate proficiency in reading and writing in Standard English at the College level.
Information Literacy and Written Communication Degree Requirements
The Information Literacy and Written Communication degree requirement for the associate's degree can be satisfied by successful completion of an approved course sequence (see approved courses below).
The courses listed below have been approved to meet the Information Literacy and Written Communication graduation requirements for General Education. Students must take at least one pair of the courses listed.
ENG 131 English Composition 1 and ENG 132 English Composition 2
or
ENG 131 English Composition 1 and ENG 135 Business and Technical Writing
Students first enrolled before Fall 2005 may choose to meet either the prior General Education requirements (approved in 2001) or the current requirements. However, all students applying to graduate after May 2008 must meet the General Education requirements above.
