Students enroll for CLT 100 like any other course, but it meets only once for one hour for the testing process. CLT 100 has no tuition charge, but does have a lab fee of $30.
Students who do not pass the test may retake it or take one of the approved CLR courses.
The Computer Literacy Test (CLT) is 63-question test that is taken on a computer. The majority of the questions address basic Microsoft Word features such as formatting a document (bolding, italicizing, highlighting text; inserting a hyperlink; adding/deleting text; indenting paragraphs, saving files). Some questions address the Windows operating system such as creating folders, moving files into folders, retrieving deleted files from the Recycle Bin, etc. A few questions address the Internet such as using a browser, saving a website as a Favorite, and moving to another website via a link. The last few questions address e-mail and sending e-mail with an attachment.
You have one hour to complete the CLT, and you have the opportunity to skip questions and return to those questions later in the testing period. You will receive immediate feedback as to your test score. The passing score at the present time is 70 percent.
