The American Society General Education requirement at Henry Ford
Community College states that all graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of American society, with emphasis
on: major ideas and events that have influenced American
society, OR social and political institutions that shape American
society, OR diverse populations and cultures that compose American
society.

Institutions and Cultures Degree Requirement
The courses listed below have been approved to meet the American
Society graduation requirements for General Education. Students
must take at least one of the courses listed.

Students first enrolled before Fall 2005 may choose to meet either the prior General Education requirements (approved in 2001) or the current requirements. However, all students applying to graduate after May 2008 must meet the General Education requirements above.
