Graduation Application and Information
Congratulations on your achievements at Henry Ford Community College. To receive an Associate's Degree or a Certificate of Achievement you must apply for graduation.
Applying for graduation
You may either complete a form at the Registration & Records office, located in the lower level of the Learning Resources Center (next to the Library) or complete the online form below.
Graduation fees
Associate's degree: $25*
Certificate of Achievement: $10*

Timeline
Approximately two weeks after you submit your application for graduation, you will receive, by mail, information regarding your eligibility to graduate. The sooner you apply for graduation the more time you allow yourself to resolve any unexpected issues with your graduation eligibility.
Graduation Application Deadlines
HFCC graduates students three times per year (May, August and December).
May Graduation
May graduation applicants who plan to participate in commencement must apply by the end of the first week of February. May graduation applicants who do not want to participate in commencement should submit their application by the end of the first week of May. (Only Associate degree candidates may participate in commencement.)
August Graduation
Graduation applications for the August graduation dates must be submitted by the end of August.
December Graduation
Graduation applications for December graduation dates must be submitted by the end of December.
Commencement
Henry Ford Community College holds a commencement ceremony once each year in May. Graduates from the preceding August and December class are invited along with potential May graduates.
Information regarding the participation in commencement and the purchase of cap and gowns will be mailed mid- to late-February of each year. Participation in commencement is not mandatory. Official diplomas are not distributed at commencement. Diplomas are mailed.
Prospective May graduates are urged to order a cap and gown regardless if they have received official notice of their graduation status. The cap and gown fee is paid if the order is picked up. Contact the College Store at 313-845-9603 for details and dates for measurements.
