Perkins Grants
Funds obtained through the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act (Perkins grants) can supplement other financial aid to help you pay for tuition, books and/or childcare.
Perkins assistance is designed for six special populations:
- Single parent; single pregnant woman
- Homemaker; displaced homemaker
- Student enrolled in a program non-traditional for his/her gender
- Individual with a disability
- Individual with limited English proficiency
- Economically disadvantaged students
How Can You Qualify for a Perkins Grant?
To qualify, an applicant must
- Be enrolled in a state-approved vocational program,
- Apply for the Pell Grant and have demonstrated financial need, and
- Lack the job skills necessary to adequately support the student and any dependent.
- Be in one of the six "special populations" listed above.

HFCC's Student Emergency Fund
The Student Emergency Fund helps students stay in school (applicable during fall and winter semesters only). The Fund is made possible in part by individual donors including faculty, staff and community members who participate in an annual fundraising luncheon.
