Abilities Assessments
Career Abilities Placement Survey (CAPS)
The CAPS is a career abilities assessment. It consists of eight individually timed sections and takes about two hours to complete. After finishing the test, students should schedule an appointment with a counselor for interpretation.
DISCOVER
Discover is a computer-based career planning and information program which includes inventories to measure your interest, abilities, experiences, and values. Allow two hours initially to use the complete program, less time to just access the abilities inventory.
Interest Assessments
Career Occupational Preference System (COPS)
The COPS is a career interest inventory that is easily completed, scored and understood
by the user. The test takes about 30 minutes to complete and may be done outside the CRC.
After finishing the test, students should schedule an appointment with a counselor for interpretation.

MOIS Structured Search
The Michigan Occupational Information System (MOIS) is a career and college information
delivery system for Michigan. The system includes an interest inventory to match your interests to the careers available in Michigan. MOIS is available in the CRC or on the Internet.
Self-Directed Search (SDS)
The Self Directed Search (SDS) is a career interest inventory that is easily completed by
the user. The test takes about 30 minutes to complete and may be done outside the CRC. After
finishing the test, students should schedule an appointment with a counselor for interpretation.
Personality Assessments
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
Although the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is given in the Life-Work Planning (COUN 125) and
Personality Type and Success (COUN 129) courses, it is currently not available individually
in the CRC.
Values Assessments
Career Orientation Placement and Evaluation Survey (COPES)

to complete and may be done outside the CRC. After finishing the test, students should schedule
an appointment with a counselor for interpretation.

The Hall Occupational Orientation Inventory is a values inventory that is easily completed by
