The Women’s Softball team was initiated in the spring of 1977 has won nine conference championships. Three team members were named Distinguished Academic All-Americans (4.0 GPA): Angela Ervin in 1998, Kari Hathaway in 2000 and Kelly Victor in 2005. The Head Coach is Michaelene Ruhl and Assistant Coach is Julie Jones.
The Women’s Softball season runs from January 10 – May 10. Home Hawks games are played on the campus of Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn. Admission is free to women’s softball games.

Head Softball Coach - Julie Jones
Julie Jones is the third head softball coach in the programs history. No stranger to Hawk softball, Julie was a standout catcher on the FIFCC team in 1996 and 1997. Julie was instrumental in the team's success those years while earning All Conference, All State and All Region awards in 1996 and 1997. After leaving HFCC, Julie attended Siena Height University on a softball scholarship. Her devotion to the Hawks brought her back to the program where she was a volunteer assistant coach in 2001 and named the assistant coach from 2001-2007.
A graduate of Belleville High School in 1996, Julie still holds the record for highest batting average. A resident of Belleville, Julie is a dispatcher for the Van Buren Township Police Department.
Assistant Softball Coach - Nancy Bryden
Nancy Bryden was hired at Henry Ford as the first Head Womens Basketball and Softball coach in 1976. Previous to Henry Ford, Nancy coached at Dearborn Divine Child where she compiled a 126 - 19 record highlighted by the ASA State Softball Championship in 1974 and the first Michigan High School State Class B Softball Championship in 1975.
At Henry Ford, Bryden coached the basketball team for fifteen years and the softball team for twenty-six years while compiling a 186 - 114 in basketball and a 589-286 record in softball. She currently ranks second in the NJCAA records of inactive head coaches.
Bryden's softball teams won seven conference championships and were state runners-up nine times while being nationally ranked several times in the NJCAA final softball polls. Also during her tenure, the Hawks qualified for regional berths twenty-two times, finishing in the top four thirteen times.
Nancy played varsity softball at Eastern Michigan University where she received her Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees. A student at HFCC and the athletic director since 1983, Nancy poseses a devotion and pride for Hawk athletics.
