Men's Baseball
The HFCC Men’s Baseball team was one of our most successful ever, capturing the conference title six consecutive years from 1990-1996. In 1991 and 1994, the HFCC Men’s Baseball team won the regional championship. The 1994 Hawks Baseball team was the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) World Series runner-up and Charlie Anderson-- currently with the Toronto Blue Jays--was the NJCAA National Player of the Year. www.leaguelineup.com/hfccbaseball
2008-09 Baseball Try-Out Dates
Tuesday, August 26 noon-3 p.m.
Wednesday, August 27 - 4 - 7 p.m.
Thursday, August 28 -noon - 3 p.m.
Prospects should plan to be at all three try-out dates.
Practices will typically be every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from noon - 3 p.m. and Saturday morning from 8 - 10 a.m. so please schedule accordingly.
HFCC Baseball Players will need to be available on weekends from August 16 through September 28 to participate in team fundraisers.
Head Coach
Joe Santilli enters his first year as the Head Coach at Henry Ford Community College after serving as an assistant for the program in 2007. Coming into the 2008 season, Coach Santilli has 11 years of coaching experience. He was an assistant coach at St. Mary’s College of Ave Maria University, where he served as the team’s recruiting coordinator, fundraising officer and third base coach. Before moving to the college level, he was a coach at Dakota High School (Macomb Twp.) and coached for several elite travel teams. Outside of the HFCC program, Coach Santilli is the director of baseball for Triple Crown Sports – Great Lakes, organizing baseball tournaments, showcases, and combines. Coach Santilli lives in Sterling Heights with his wife, Julie, his son, Giovanni, 2 and daughter, Mara,1.
Assistant Coach
Christopher Collias is entering his first year as assistant coach at Henry Ford Community College. His duties include coaching third base, working with infielders and outfielders and as recruiting advisor. He comes to HFCC with a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm. He is a graduate of Southfield Lathrup High School (‘94) where he played four years as shortstop on the varsity team. From there he moved on to Macomb Community College (‘97,’98) where he played shortstop for two years before entering the coaching ranks. In 2001, he landed his first job as an assistant at St. Mary’s College of Ave Maria University. For the last four years, he has been coaching at the high school level, splitting time between Roseville and Berkley high schools. Coach Collias is honored to be a part of the HFCC family.
Assistant Coach
Cris Hansen is in his second season as an assistant coach at Henry Ford Community College. Coach Hansen brings 25 years of coachingexperience to HFCC including coaching teams that have competed in AAU, CABA, USSSA , NABF, BPA and in the AABC National Championship. Coach Hansen also has coached at the high school level at Taylor Kennedy and Divine Child.
